i dunno whether its coincidence or what,
but i have seen more and more maserati etc.
i wonder if its true that there are more and more millionaires
emerging from Singapore. i find that the newspaper report is abit flawed
its true that many singaporean are asset rich, HDB rise in value
but its of no use, unless they sell and downgrade to smaller or move to less value area
otherwise, these household are merely asset rich.

only those that already have private housing can profit from the property boom,
well thats the reason for the sky rocketing prices, fueled by the rich/atas people.

that being said, is the main reason for this post.
its very important to reach a critical mass. in terms of $$$
a.k.a the rich get richer.
this is where u get out of the hamster wheel, and let the $$$ run the wheel.
the holy grail situation.

its almost insulting sometimes.
its hard for the poor to get rich
its hard for the rich to get poor* (of cause with prudent planning and money management)
after reaching certain critical amount of $$$, achieving high passive income is easy.

excellent example, the rich can take advantage of macro econ situation.
taking a ride up when the property price in Singapore boom.

*poor people love crisis situation while rich people fear them
crisis is like a escalator for poor people
crisis is like a double edge sword for rich people

Starfish

this is a story i learn from the Never Work Again Seminar.
story about helping starfish.

the rough outline of this story is about 2 people strolling along beach
found thousands and thousands of starfish being washed up
one of them being a pessimist only heave a heavy sigh,
feeling powerless and pity the loss of those starfish.
the other person, began picking up individual starfish
and throwing them back to the sea, where they belong.

"hey, its futile effort, you cant change their fate there are too many of them"
he didnt even try to save even 1, his belief that his action are worthless
lead to his action, accepting the tragedy and grief.

in the meanwhile, he could hear his friend's words

"well i just saved this one, and this one, and this one"

* this story is very simple and powerful, at least to me.
its so illustrative and meaningful.

how to get busy..

after exam, i have around 4 months before all the shit starts again. the thought of re-taking modules really demoralize me. guess i need to use other method of revising and studying. surviving UOL/LSE not easy.. interesting point is on the last paper, before the exam start while i was outside of the hall, a red bull promoter offered me a Red Bull! i must say its effective at least psychologically. gave me wings!.

so how to get busy during this period. i come up with a before and after plan! i started the plan yesterday. my schedule will be swimming 2 times/wk, running 3times/wk and abs workout 3 times/wk. hoping to trim my weight down from 61.5 to 55. i think it will be cool next time when u are 30 or 40 and see ur prime body figure. during army, mostly is running so maybe only slimmer only. now aimming for defined shape.

well almost half of 2010 gone. spending almost 1/2 or 1/4 of time at home. really "zai nan" and got to be the most monotonous period of my life. the pessimistic side of me keep attacking me, wondering why or is it worth it to get a degree at all. of cause the expectations of others and myself weigh down so heavily on the shoulders. this is a great example of the explanation of why suicide is explained as structurally constructed by durkheim.

i thought it will be good to record down what was ideal to me
in my current situation. 22yo still studying. etc.
anyway this is just my own personal ideal thoughts.
purely for future references when im 30, 40 or 50yo.

my ideal list.

compiled my bucket list and started on it by 30 or 40
achieve means of accomplishing all of the above
settle down. family and kids before 30 or maybe 35 haha
teach my kids carefully.
grant my mum's wish of driving an Audi
do not wish to slog for a living, a normal job would suffice
hate corporate climbing, corporate politics blah blah
decor my future home like show room type
BMW or audi
best will be return to where i lived before since young
house with a good scenery
enjoy family life everyday with wife n kids *most important of all.

just my current ideal expectation. might change exogenously or endogenously.

purely for my future reference.

because i find it interesting when i looked at the post i made a few years back

the difference in thinking and writing style amaze myself. haha

well lets see how amazed will i be in the years to come.

First concert!

yea!. 030210 my first concert day. quite nice the number huh.
went to Big Night Out @ sg indoor stadium.
it was a nearly sold out concert. only the seated area got some seats unoccupied
the floor area was flooded. haha if u lucky can squeeze and have fun
with those ang moh!!! alot of model-like ones. :)

well first two band played and lasted 2.5hours.
crowd is slowly building up. the first 2 performance was acceptable only.
partly is because i never hear them before. lolx biase
when it was MUSE preparing their stage. all the crowd is almost ready to rock.
it was around ten min that the crowd is guessing when they coming out.
so when the lights goes out, the crowd went berserk. serious.

MUSE played their new album song and those nostalgic ones.
damn. they are good. almost like cd album quality.
accompanied by the crowd's crazy energy. haha
all singing the lyrics. NICE!
too bad the ones around my seat no ang moh or local broc. hhaha
if not can see them go wild! lolx

a few interesting thing.
a TV camera thingy will search the crowd for funny stuff and project on screen.
then picked out one cardboard with words on it.
"Fuck me Bellamy" LOL bellamy is the lead singer.

and of all the crowd a few thousand of us.
only 1. YES 1 happen to have and waving the MUSE heart shaped light.
dunno where he/she bought it. haha the projector picked that out. was really funny
if they sell it @ indoor stadium i guess will have more.
all their shirts selling @ $40 SOLD OUT. jackets @ $80. posters etc.

hmm. we have solution to our global problem already.
drinking water and electricity.
currently we are using old or traditional methods of obtaining the above resources
but some countries are in midst of switching to earth friendly methods
only prevailant in rich developed countries.
poor countries with lots lots of people are still relying on old methods.
burning of coal, especially in china
depending of groundwater in india

i used to believe human is doom as the consumption is insatiable.
but hope arise as we invent new technologies.
in US, a company manage to make cheap solar film.
much like aluminium foil, can form any shape and still converts electricity.
roof top is not the only place to capture sunlight.
side wall of a skyscraper? unlimited potential. importantly cost alot less.
another company create a amazing thing.
the product can capture the moisture in the air into water.
*drop jaw. wouldnt this solve the problem of shortage of water?
its drinkable water. we know drinking pure h20 is unhealthy in long run
but it could be used for agriculture or put in reservoirs!
problems of desertification could be solved too. its just wonderful.

there are technologies available to solve the shortages of resources,
solve the reliant on burning fossil fuel. solve global warming?
however as usual the human instinct kicks in.
which inventor will gracefully give up potential wealth for the goodwill of human?
will he/she give up a life to be like bill gates or a billionaire life?
thus this technologies aint cheap. not available to poor countries.

stupid wish

haha i always had this stupid wish.
i wished that if singapore aint that small, it would be a good place!
if batam was ours! lolx we will have alot of space for everything!
move all our industrial factories over to batam.
then the good old west side of singapore will not be the boring place.
without all those factories polluting residents in jurong. :)

maybe west side land could be a recreation area!
like track racing, etc.. haha
also if only our sea water is not polluted by our friendly neighbors.
then a whole new industry will flourish man.
watersports will be more, scuba diving etc.
oh well its just a stupid wish of mine. LOL

singapore now is just a modern society. a very "safe" one. thus very boring.
only shopping, eat and lately can gamble.
kids all get stressed out by study study. social stigma if kids doesnt study well etc. oh well sianz isnt?
and of coz got a world class theme park finally. but it lacks the "risk" "fun" factor.
i can understand that this helped singapore to achieve its economic developments
its a inevitable path, for the economy and wealth. we sacrificed fun. :)

this is the deciding factor whether u make it fast or slow.
of course if without tools, correct training and correct mindset,
making foolish mistakes, u will learn it the hard way.
its also a personal choice and preference actually.
its such a cliche already. no pain no gain.
well in my case, thankfully there are methods to mitigate the "pain"

hmmm i shall set my goal at end of 2010, i shall earn back my course fee(2700)
my data feed fee(300), my uol school fee(8k), yearly insurance fee(1k), yearly mobile fee(350),
yearly transport fee(?)... estimated to be around 15k in expense!!

in all my target profit after expense shall be 15k by year end.
around 2.5k per month. its hard but im going to try!
if im not trading. how am i going to sustain?
so lets hope together that all is well!!! :D

i want to visualize that all of our gang will do well in the years to come.
using individual's most preferred ways of achieving our dreams.

before i end.
i successfully bought my first item on ebay! n received it :)
counted as my first online purchase.
also ordered something through a forum!

time to close a roller coaster 2009.
highs and lows. opportunities and difficulties.
for me, started 2009 with a high - thunder warrior 09
great experience for me. and the longest haul flight till now. 9.5 hours!
n didnt sleep throughout. LOL. garbage movie n meals keep me going
new zealand's everything captivated me through my 3 week stay!

good times flies. soon greeted by bad news.
luckily its not life threatening.
my heart screamed. tired. numb.
have been already free falling for many years.
wonder when my chute will finally open.
now looking back. having witness so much things
im kinda immune to bad things.
resigned it all to fate. goodbye to "I". i have to be content with "ME"

then came the bottoming of stock market in march.
it was the biggest opportunities but i didnt see it.
arghhh. can i turn back time? haha
then it was september. it was my ORD.
maybe it was the pre-ord clearing of off and leave.
didnt have a much ORD impact on me.
but it definitely feels shiok to nua at home. :D

now for the last quarter of the year, nothing much.
looked through my stock options and went for it.
now already halfway through UOL.
i guess this is the difficult part. haha

our future depends largely on the decisions to be made next year at the climate thingy at Copenhagen
that future is of something that we cant alter it ourselves.
as the decision is made by people in power.
gotta blog about this as it is definitely the pivoting moment,
the future of ourselves, planet and our future generations of children is at stake. seriously.

if we continue on the selfish exploitation of resources and ignorant dumping of waste into environment,
then i could only see a sunset. this is not being pessimistic but its a fact.
i believe there is no need to re illiterate the consequences. there are numerous observations.
my own opinion, the movie 2012 is talking about the start of end of world
i think caused by asteroids, earthquakes and floods.? i haven watch it yet.
asteroids are out of question, but earthquakes and floods natural disasters are definitely true.
we going to see more and powerful ones in years to come.
disaster prone area.. well receiving the full brunt of adverse effect of global warming. caused by us.

so what are your predictions? i mean the outcome of Copenhagen.
will top emitters of greenhouse gases come to a consensus?
will they keep arguing about the responsibilities of developed and developing countries?
will our future generation have a chance to see the cherry blossom?
or will they be greeted with news of starvation, poverty and
of cause spiraling cases of natural disaster. draining our finite resources and fragile hope of recovery.

*i need to write more essays. need to improve my ability to convert thoughts into words.
for the fear of sociology, marketing and psychology next year may. :)

as all of us know.
the bank interest rate have gradually dropped to almost zero.
best would be ocbc fairprice plus @ 0.3%p.a
eg. 10,000 = (10000x0.3% = 30)! wtf 30SGD for a year.

just one two years back,
interest rate was @ 2.38% so its still justifiable to park money there.

so now a better parking choice would be
stocks and funds.
fund would be DBS enhanced income.
low risk. i havent look into it yet.

stock would be SUNTEC REIT!
low to mid risk.
why i say park money there.
it pays out dividends 4 times.
i calculated historical prices
it works out to be close to 0.1 per share
meaning if u got 10 lot (1 lot =1000share)
10000*0.1 = 1000 (dividend)! at end of year

worried that stock market crash?
yup of coz must worry.
lowest historical price of suntec is 0.57
current price is 1.04
but if you are not those regular traders
you just wanna park your spare cash there
then no worries right?
so just wait collect dividends can le!
im taking about those parking for 5 yrs and more

if you think suntec reit(real estate investment trust) will lose its value
singapore/temasek cui, causes the stock price to plunge
then refrain.
if the above scenario really happens
singapore will become sinkapore already.

hmm. found out how depleted uranium came about
its a by product of nuclear material [raw uranium]
1 ton of [uranium] which is used for nuclear power plant, nuclear warhead
creates ~99 ton of depleted uranium, radioactive waste.

the US government obviously had tons and tons of those radioactive wastes
where did they dispose it?
they used some of it in the gulf war, Afghanistan and Iraq.
depleted uranium [DU] in artillery rounds, missiles used in helicopters
all contained DU.

why use DU?
its very effective. creates extreme heat upon impact.
destroy tanks and buildings easily.
and to causally dispose harmful radioactive waste in foreign/enemy land!!!
still remember BUSH told the media that the war is to give freedom to iraqis?
what a bull shit. it totally brain-washed alot of people.
including their own solider.

i pity those soldiers that helped in the war.
makes me wonder if SAF soliders were exposed to the radiation in Afghanistan
alot of soldiers that return home were dead or suffering cancer.
and the innocent civilian of Afghanistan and Iraq.
their homeland have been contaminated with radioactive waste.
and ALOT of them do not know about the use of DU by US ARMY.

that sums up close to 1 full year of military duties.
the rest of the time?
stoning in camp, doing guard duty, countless stupid parades,
countless hours wasted doing non ,military duties.
wasting time i would say.

to say all these doesnt mean i hate NS.
but 2 years is abit too long.
we are losing jobs to FT/FP *FP=foreign peasants
and without good jobs, how to start family ?

its a vicious cycle.

its a crazy idea, to leave your comfort zone

in the show he made some pretty good trades
yielding handsome profits
and also took huge risk and eventually lose money.

he traded with livestocks, tea, jade, surfing boards and even teak in brazil.

pretty nice documentary to watch i would say.

stumbled across a tutorial blogspot.
it teaches people how to remove blackheads easily.
the product works roughly like the Biore pore strips.
except its in liquid form (or mask u could call it)
dries up and peel off.

the main point is the product the blog is selling can be bought at daiso.
zzz and the blog is selling at USD28.
one reason for charging so exp is probably due to demand & supply.
Daiso doesnt have its outlet at all of the countries.
so only way for those countries is to import.

the blog have over 40,000 hits since july 08.
its mind boggling. imagine how many desperate people have bought from them.
law of average i put it as 5% > gives around 2k people.
now thats a neat profit there.

they even have promotions like fathers day
buy 2 get 1 free etc. haha

so conclusion, the owner of the blog managed to get international customer
through a simple tutorial blog at zero capital cost.
nice. i wonder should i set up a competing blog? lolx

yea i passed my TP today.
the traffic condition today was bad,
and there are road works,
only 3 out of a dozen people passed today.

i calculated my total cost of getting this license.
18 hour of driving ($26/hr)
2 circuit ($22/circuit)
pdl, btt & ftt & membership fee at bbdc ($30~$40)
rental of car for TP ($120)
registration of instructor ($50)
license card fee ($50)
sums up to just under $800
kinda exp for me :( (now cash reserve really low liao)
had too much driving hour le. and 1 circuit was enough actually.
but getting the license is all that matters. :)

never really sweat at all,

currently im studying forex.
got tons and tons of things i have yet understand.
i tried their demo account,
fake money with live market conditions.
i posted a profit of 200+ in 2 days of trading.
50k capital btw. but i merely used 2% of it to trade.
i set up very safe measures,
small profit margin and small loss margin.
once the price i set is met,
it automatically close the deal. so its kinda set n forget.

i know my techniques of trading is totally noob,
i just look at the charts,
see their highest and lowest point/price history,
then see if it alright to enter/buy.
i might just be plain lucky to post a 200+ profit*.
(*with various trading entry.)

but i will keep looking/studying.
currently looking at carry trading.
most popular trading techniques used.

one drawback of my current broker is that
every withdrawal of any amount has a fee of at least USD25.

haha. i am the only nsf in our gang,
to ever celebrate/countdown in camp during NY.
feels kinda weird all alone in the office,
and watch the tv countdown program. alone.
but the usual things for this year will be
to keep improving and learning!

1 surprise is that my CO actually came down to camp
and spoke to all the personnel in camp,
even those on guard duties. haha. kinda nice of him.
he even bought mac meals for us.

lastly thanks to those whom called and msg-ed
and sorry for not calling and msg-ing everyone.
it kinda feel down in camp all alone. :(

it have been almost 2 years since i last played it
the total played time for me was about 1 week i guess.

great venue, great music, good food and of coz great crowd.

after the cohesion thingy, the commanders gathered.

we had to draw lots to see which group they in

we used poker cards for this.

last night went for the much dreaded cohesion day,

was quite negative about it, that was my initial feelings,

until the main program started.

the organiser wanted all of us to write a essay about

ambitions, what we going to do after ns 5 years from now.

i was amazed by the quality of the essays that some wrote.

not only the language was good, near perfect gramma and

most importantly the content was superb too.

well thats what you would have expected from JC students.

it was a joy reading their essays about their ambitions as

i learnt alot from them. opened up my horizon.

If u have encountered the followings, this is a godsend
- lose precious data due to computer cant boot up or kena virus
- spend alot of time reformatting computer going through all the installation process
- hate customizing all your settings all over again(games, program, browser settings)

Acronis True Image 8 prevents all of the above. There are alot free programs that can create system image files also but this particular program can create bootable cd!! now even u cant boot into windows, this cd will allow u to boot into windows!
Too good to be true huh, but its TRUE and its free.

been thinking while in camp,
i am 21 this year liao! damn old la..
n got to start doing things...
or getting things done.
so i shall dump those year old problems away,
and start living life!

though as much as i wished to have my own room,
its not going to happen in like 10 years,
or until i marry someone, new house etc.
so the least i can do is new "equipments"!
like computer, tables, clothes etc!

also my plan to get a motorbike as a transport veh, failed.
haha my mother wouldnt allow it.

back to start living life, i compare with my bunkmates
same age, but many are gearing themselves for adulthood.
eg, car license, place in Uni and many others have plans
i dun have any of those!!!

i am currently training to be a specialist,

half is bought from US. This "tank" is damn expensive.
wasting our tax money i would say. haha.
its different from buying F-16 etc.
cause its damn fun n nice to fly a fighter plane,
and not drive a "tank" which tops at 50km/h
very loud engine, very heavy ammo rounds and
VERY EXPENSIVE. min S$2Million each.

well was bored at home resting after a shag 3 day sitest
decided to reboot my blog back up.

previous post is about entering bmt,
now i going to post about leaving bmt.

the highlights of my bmt
first time shaving my hair

first time passing 2.4km for ippt!
the 6d5n field camp
stupid 100m range
ulitmate shag 3d2n sitest!

all in all, being in the army really toughen ur body, mind and soul
u will need determination, perseverance, tolerance and teamwork in order to get through
glad that i have completed 90% of bmt without falling out, without quiting
army have helped me to realize and push my limits further,

yesterday was the last day of my sitest,
my performance at sitest > average only..
sad and shag.. chance of entering ocs would be 0.2%
upon hearing the ocs intake for my batch is very small
my chance = 0.1%..
after going through sitest, i know i really dun deserve to enter ocs..
many others were not as shag as me and i was a little too quite in giving suggestions..
so on the 24th of december when my posting is out, i wun be so disappointed..

next target is SISPEC!
its a gamble u know, if u posted to tekong it will be good IMO
if u posted to unit it will be shit..
on the other side, the oversea training is attractive!
doing mission at taiwan and 3 days R&R
again, its a gamble again. not all will go taiwan!.. so unlucky batch will go thailand..
and i have calculated that if i am lucky and go taiwan for training, its summer.. zzzzzz
